We bid farewell to Hanspeter Wepfer - a pioneer in the field of fleet monitoring

Hanspeter Wepfer joined us almost a decade ago, just as we had decided to offer our innovative Fleet Monitor system to third-party customers. With his extensive experience in developing such systems, Hanspeter quickly became a key player in the development of our Fleet IT group.

As an accomplished expert in digitalisation, Hanspeter laid the foundations that enabled us to be successful in the field of fleet monitoring. He set up a competent team and acquired customers from a wide range of sectors. From data transmission to HVF billing, automated billing for contractor fleets fulfilling work orders, management of complete vehicle fleets and support for service work and development projects through objectively recorded data - Hanspeter was the architect behind all these advances.

Last year, he dedicated himself to familiarising his successor, Cyril Kyburz, with the complex issues surrounding Fleet. Hanspeter has now decided to take on a new challenge.

Hanspeter, we would like to thank you warmly for your tireless commitment and your groundbreaking development work in the Fleet Group. We wish you all the best for the future.

New transport racks for sheet metal

KYBURZ regularly receives metal sheets for the assembly of the large box at the rear of the DXC. New transport racks are now available for transport and storage. "There is a high risk of damage if the sheets are stored horizontally," explains Mike Schneeberger, Head of Logistics at KYBURZ. Especially as the sheets are slightly larger than a Euro pallet.

Mike recognised the problem and developed a transport rack together with the development department, René Stoll and Tury Bäuerle. The wooden frame enables safe upright storage and transport and also saves space.

Two racks are already being tested. The experience has been good and there is already wood in front of Tury's workshop for the construction of further racks, which will find their way to the supplier Borschberg + Käser AG for loading.

Gain experience, draw conclusions, develop an idea, implement a solution together:
that's how it should be. Thank you to everyone involved for your commitment!

Automation workshop at Siemens

SIEMENS and KYBURZ are in close contact. A delegation from the battery recycling team worked together with SIEMENS employees in a workshop on various automation topics. SIEMENS has founded the "Battery-Xcelerator" department in response to the increasing importance of battery recycling.

In addition to the Erlangen site, Yunus Ruff and Dr Frieder Herb also visited the headquarters of SIEMENS Digital Industries in Nuremberg, where they were given a hands-on course on how to use the latest software for programming industrial machines.

The fact that there was a white eRod in the course room is evidence of another great collaboration: SIEMENS uses the eRod to develop innovative projects: Through generative design and topology optimisation with the SIEMENS design software "NX" and by using additive manufacturing strategies (3D printing), the weight of the steering knuckles of the eRod could be reduced by 30%.

KYBURZ would like to thank all those involved from SIEMENS for the great workshop and hospitality and is very much looking forward to further collaboration.

DXS deployment at the harbour festival in Romanshorn

The traditional harbour festival in Romanshorn, which took place on 20 and 21 April, marks the start of the new shipping season on Lake Constance. This year's harbour festival was something very special, providing a festive setting for the 200th anniversary of scheduled shipping. Many attractions enriched this event, such as round trips on a historic steam railway train or the legendary steamship Hohentwiel. Even Swiss Post presented a stamp with a corresponding design.

Unfortunately, the weather was not so suitable for a harbour festival, with snow even falling at times. Nevertheless, there was plenty to marvel at, experience and enjoy indoors. And so that every visitor, young and old, could put together their own individual festival programme, friendly and helpful staff from Thurgau Tourism were always on hand to offer advice and assistance. Thanks to the "sea blue" painted KYBURZ DXS, they were hard to miss. At the same time, the accompanying trailer was used to present interesting brochures or helpful flyers, which visitors could help themselves to.

The employees of Thurgau Tourism really appreciate their KYBURZ because it is easy to operate, offers a good overview, takes up little space in pedestrian zones and indoor areas, does not require an elaborate stand set-up and is still easily recognised by the public.

A stable eRod as a dissertation

Mariagrazia Tristano set herself the goal of developing an electronic stability programme (ESP) for the eRod using individual wheel torques for her doctoral thesis. Her work has now been published on the renowned IEEE Explore platform.

Mariagrazia is doing her doctorate at Sheffield Hallam University in England. She came into contact with KYBURZ via Siemens PLM. KYBURZ supported her with a loan controller and she also found a competent supervisor in Erik Wilhelm. "It looks complicated, but it's actually very efficient!" says the head of KYBURZ research, "she managed to create a control unit that allows the eRod to pass the famous "moose test".

The programme works with a high level of processor efficiency and ultimately serves the safety of the vehicle occupants. It remains to be seen whether the development will be used in the eRod or other KYBURZ vehicles in the near future.

New service partner in Valais

The Garage de l'Union in Granges VS is now the new KYBURZ service partner in the French-speaking Rhone Valley. The service partners are the first point of contact for Swiss Post vehicle managers in the event of problems with KYBURZ delivery vehicles. They are responsible for the vehicles regionally and can be on site quickly.

Service partners also carry out regular maintenance on the vehicles and trailers. When new vehicles are put into service, they apply the labelling in the required language, register the vehicles with the road traffic office and hand them over to Swiss Post. The employees of the service partners travel to Freienstein every year for training. Ideas for improving processes and increasing service quality are developed through personal dialogue.

KYBURZ wishes Garage de l'Union a good start and looks forward to working with them.

We congratulate Luca on his 5th anniversary

Five years ago, Luca Botta moved in with us, straight from the stage of the famous "Broadway-Variété", where he had previously enchanted the audience with culinary delights and an extraordinary programme. With Luca, we not only gained an employee, but an entire piece of vaudeville that has been bathing our everyday working life in bright colours ever since.

Luca is the undisputed director of our legendary Christmas parties. Every year, he displays his talent to impress us all with his creativity and organisational skills. But his talents are not limited to festive occasions. Until recently, he was responsible for dismantling disused DXP vehicles into their individual parts. In doing so, he gave the still usable components a second life by reassembling them into new 2ndLife vehicles.

Today, Luca is a key player in our battery recycling team, where his creativity and craftsmanship provide support at just the right time. The task is huge: to convert all the world's lithium batteries back into their raw materials in a resource-saving and environmentally friendly way. A challenge that calls for a variety artist like Luca!

Luca, we have high hopes for your abilities to meet this demanding challenge. With your support, we are convinced that we can make the world a little bit better.

We say goodbye to Sanel Kekić

Since last summer, Sanel Kekić has been in charge of the KYBURZ service centre in Lonay (VD). He was always looking for solutions to difficult technical problems. KYBURZ has always been able to count on Sanel's motivation and energy to ensure the best possible service for the postal fleet and private customers served by this site.

Sanel has also attached great importance to the quality of his colleagues' work and optimised the workshop equipment. KYBURZ would like to thank Sanel Kekić for his commitment and wishes him every success in his new professional challenge.
